The construction sector is rapidly moving beyond traditional materials and methods. Join us for the first official BIOGEMSE webinar, where we introduce the project’s vision and explore how low-carbon cements, geopolymers, and digital construction technologies are reshaping the built environment.
Speakers
Miguel Otero Sáenz de Lubiano, Chemical R&D Researcher I AIMEN Technology Centre
Volker Ruitinga, CEO I VERTICO
What you’ll learn
– Why the sector is moving beyond Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)
– Insights into low-carbon cement materials and geopolymers
– How 3D printing and digital construction are transforming building processes

Dissemination & communication alignment with other horizon europe projects
A strong synergy has been established with other sister projects which were funded under the same Horizon Europe call:
ORGANIC , BUTTERFLIES Project , BIOMAPS Project and Bio.3DGREEN Project.
Together, the projects are exploring joint opportunities for collaboration, communication, and shared innovation in bio-intelligent and sustainable construction.
A coordination meeting was held on November 5, 2025, and an Open Workshop is planned for January 21st 2026 to further strengthen these collaborative efforts.
FORMNEXT Magazine FEATURE OF BIOGEMSE
Title: “Biological intelligence meets 3D printing”
Our partner AIMEN Centro Tecnológico is featured in an article on BIOGEMSE at the FORMNEXT Magazine with the title “Biological intelligence meets 3D printing” (p.20).
The article gave them the opportunity to speak about combining Additive Manufacturing with principles of biological intelligence in the BIOGEMSE project.
More specifically, AIMEN is helping to transform the construction sector by developing bio-intelligent, sustainable and circular modular building systems. The project combines bio-based and recyclable materials with flexible, robotized 3D printing technologies. A generative AI tool will enable the design of biomimetic structures optimized for functionality and environmental performance.
