BIOGEMSE 6 month psc meeting & visit to the First living lab location

The BIOGEMSE consortium met in Madrid for the Month 6 Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting, hosted by ACCIONA. This gathering marked a significant step forward as the project moves from its initial foundation phase into deeper technical development.

The meeting opened with an informal team dinner on the previous evening, providing an opportunity for partners to strengthen professional connections, exchange perspectives, and reinforce the collaborative spirit that underpins the project. Throughout the PSC meeting, representatives from all nine partner organisations presented progress updates across their respective Work Packages, aligned on upcoming priorities, and discussed the strategic steps required to support the project’s ambitious goals.

During their presentation, our partner AIMEN detailed the raw materials incorporated into their case study, specifically the binders and multiple categories of biomass ash that will form the basis of their experimental formulations.

This demonstration was an important moment for the consortium, as it enabled partners to concretely visualise the materials and engage in informed exchanges on their relevance for the project’s development.

The meeting day concluded with a presentation by EIT Manufacturing, highlighting ongoing communication efforts and upcoming dissemination initiatives across the project. The session also featured an internal recognition moment, celebrating the partner that had most actively contributed to raising the visibility of BIOGEMSE during the first six months. AIMEN was awarded the title of leading disseminator in acknowledgement of their exemplary engagement.

Visit to ACCIONA Living Labs

Living labs

As part of the PSC agenda, the consortium conducted a dedicated visit to the ACCIONA Living Labs, where BIOGEMSE solutions will be validated under real-life conditions. This visit offered a valuable opportunity to explore ACCIONA’s DemoPark, the planned location for the implementation of one of the project’s key demonstrators, Smart Living Lab 1.

By observing the testing grounds firsthand, partners gained practical insight into the operational context in which the project’s circular and bio-intelligent construction technologies will be deployed. The visit facilitated discussions on integration pathways, validation requirements, and the conditions necessary to ensure robust, scalable outcomes.

As BIOGEMSE advances into its technical development stages, the Living Labs will play a crucial role in demonstrating the performance, safety, and real-world impact of the solutions being designed.

Consortium

The consortium remains committed to shaping a new generation of sustainable, circular, and bio-intelligent construction technologies for Europe. The successful Month 6 PSC meeting and Living Labs visit mark an important foundation for the collaborative work ahead.
